Clarity is such a small word, yet so damn powerful.
A Noun: the quality of being coherent and intelligible.
In life clarity means having a focused and clear state of mind.
In business it means having a focused and clear plan.
Whether you have been in business for a year or thirty, that doesn’t mean you have clarity in your business.
With my awesome job, I get to meet many, many business owners every month. What stands out between the average, manage-to-survive vs. the businesses that have sustainable growth, is clarity of where their business is going and why.
Now, finding clarity is not as simple as it may sound. It takes a lot of honesty, understanding and some deep-down thinking. You often hear people talk about dreams for their business and picture what it will look like in 5 or 10 years, or my favourite: what will your business look like when it’s done? Yes, I have used those too, there’s no denying it. It wasn’t until recently, working with my own coach that the penny dropped. I got clarity for myself and my own business. Well, it actually goes back further than that.
I spent my life working the long hours and 7 days a week. Did it help, sure… nervous breakdowns, lost out on those special times with the kids, and almost lost my marriage on numerous occasions.
When did discovering my clarity happen?
The moment I took the time to understand my values. The values that I have as an individual, the values that I have for my business, the values that I have regarding my team and the values that I have for my clients. Then, with focus on what I really wanted; my vision for my business and for myself. No, not the fancy words etc., just simple clear vision. More about that another day.
As I mentioned, when I work with business owners, those who get clarity on what they are doing and why, discover that suddenly they are focused on what is actually important in what they do, why they do it, and how they do it. For the first time they understand their Business. Growth happens.
Watching my client’s faces when the clarity hits home; Bang! It’s amazing, and then the results start to flow. It becomes a really proud moment.
Such a simple word, yet so damn powerful. Find your clarity for you and your business, it will be a huge mindset change.
