Small Business, let’s get it right

Small Business, stop ruining it for others

I know that I may offend some business owners with this blog, however you should only be offended if you are guilty of these points below.

Please read on, this can only help you make a change for the better and therefore make a better living.

Being a small business owner is tough, there is no doubt about it.

Yet they are our own worst enemy, they complain when customers say they are more expensive than the big guys, they say they have to be, “it’s our income and our living.”

They complain that the big guys’ service levels are shocking, that they don’t care about the customer, and that’s why customers should use the small businesses.

They say that small business is the heart of the economy.

Yet, some and I’m not saying all, are damaging the image of small businesses for the rest of us.

They offer what they can’t deliver

They make mistake and the shrug their shoulders

They make promises that they don’t keep

They cut corners to save money

They don’t have a system

They don’t have a backup plan

They don’t have cashflows (so ask high deposits and use the deposit to live on)

They take longer than promised

These are just some of the issues that I hear, all the time.

Please can we stop giving the rest of the small businesses a bad reputation, let’s get this right by:

Offering only what you can deliver

Own your mistake and fixing them quickly

Only commit to what you can deliver

Don’t cut corners, be honest about your costs

Put systems in place for better delivery and service

Plan better

Work on your cashflow daily

Work with a timeline and stick to it

Get yourself a Business Coach to help you achieve this or at least find a mentor that can guide you along the way.
