From Stuck to Unstoppable: Building Resilience for Your Breakthrough

Let’s get real here… feeling stuck in business can be one of the most frustrating places to be. You are not necessarily doing nothing. In fact, most of the time you are doing a lot. You are showing up, serving clients, thinking about the next step, praying, trying to make wise decisions and wondering what needs to change. But somehow, it still feels like you are standing in the same place.

When you are in that place for long enough, you start questioning everything. Am I doing the right thing? Did I hear God correctly? Am I capable of carrying this? Why does it feel so hard to move forward? As business owners, we often think the thing stopping us is lack of time, lack of money, lack of confidence, or even fear of failure. And sometimes those things do play a role. But I have come to realise that one of the biggest obstacles is not always the fear of failing. Sometimes, it is the fear of succeeding.

That one hits differently, because failure can sometimes feel familiar. We know how to explain it, prepare for it and protect ourselves from disappointment. But success asks something of us. It asks us to become more visible, carry more responsibility, stop hiding behind “I’m not ready,” and trust God with bigger rooms, bigger conversations, bigger decisions and bigger stewardship. Sometimes we say we want breakthrough, but we are not always prepared for the growth that breakthrough requires.

We talk a lot about fear of failure in business, but what if we asked a different question: what if it does work? What if the offer sells? What if the business grows? What if your coaching practice expands? What if God opens the door you have been praying for? Success may mean your systems need to improve. It may mean you need to lead differently. It may mean you cannot keep doing everything casually anymore. It may mean you need to become the person who can carry the next level well.

This is where resilience becomes so important. I think we often look at resilient people and assume they were just born that way, as if some people naturally have strength, courage and endurance while the rest of us are trying to figure it out as we go. But resilience is not something you either have or do not have. Resilience is built. It is built in the seasons where you keep showing up even when things are not moving as fast as you hoped. It is built when you hear “no” and still choose not to give up on what God placed in your heart. It is built when you learn to rest without quitting and realise that being stretched does not mean you are failing.

James 1:2-4 reminds us that the testing of our faith produces perseverance, and perseverance must finish its work so we may be mature and complete, lacking nothing. I know that verse is not always easy to receive when you are in the middle of the stretching, because sometimes you do not want to hear that it is building something in you. You just want it to be over. But so often, God uses the seasons we would have avoided to strengthen the areas we actually need for the next chapter. Not to punish us, but to prepare us.

Sometimes feeling stuck is not the enemy. Sometimes feeling stuck is information. It can reveal where something is no longer working, where we have outgrown a system, where fear has been leading, where we have been avoiding a decision, or where we need support, structure, wisdom or accountability. As Christian business owners, we can bring that feeling to God honestly and ask, “Lord, what is really holding me back here? What am I avoiding? What is the next step You are asking me to take?”

Breakthrough is often on the other side of discomfort. It may be the conversation you have been avoiding, the decision you have delayed, the system you need to put in place, the boundary you need to set, the offer you need to launch, or the help you need to ask for. Breakthrough does not always begin with a loud miracle. Sometimes it begins with a brave decision to stop hiding, stop shrinking, stop waiting for perfect confidence and stop letting fear define what is possible.

The fear of success can keep us small if we do not face it honestly. We may delay launching, undercharge, avoid visibility, stay busy with small tasks instead of strategic ones, or keep refining the idea instead of releasing it. This is not about forcing yourself into something God has not asked of you. It is about being honest with where fear may be louder than faith. 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. Fear does not get to be the final voice over your business.

Moving from stuck to unstoppable does not mean you never struggle, never get tired or never have doubts. It means you keep returning to faith, vision, prayer, wisdom and the next right step. It means you learn how to bend without breaking, rest without quitting and face the hard things without letting them define you.

And sometimes, the thing that helps us break through is the right support. A coach, mentor or strategic partner can help you see what you cannot see when you are too close to the problem. They can help you separate fear from wisdom, ask better questions, create structure around what feels overwhelming and remind you of your capacity when you have forgotten it. From a Christian coaching perspective, this matters deeply because coaching is not only about solving the business problem. It is about honouring the person behind the problem too.

So this October, take time to ask yourself: What am I really afraid will happen if I succeed? Where have I been calling fear “wisdom”? What decision have I been avoiding? What discomfort might be part of my next level of growth? What is one brave step I can take this month?

You are more capable than you believe. Not because you have to do everything in your own strength, but because God has placed something in you that is worth stewarding well. Maybe the breakthrough you are praying for is not waiting on a perfect moment. Maybe it is waiting on one honest decision, one brave step, one uncomfortable conversation and one moment where you stop letting fear keep you small.

With God, wisdom, resilience and the right support, you can move from stuck to unstoppable.
