Often times in business, we get so used to the way things have always been done, we stop looking or asking if there could be another way. We fall into the rhythm. The same offers, conversations, systems, “it’s working, why change” mindset. And don’t get me wrong, consistency is important, however there is a difference between consistent and stuck.
There is a difference between growing what God has given you and being afraid to evolve because let’s be honest: familiar feels safer.
This month is a perfect and powerful month for reflection. We can see what has worked, what has not worked, what has drained us and what has grown us. Don’t just ask yourself, “how do I finish this year strong?” but rather, “what else is possible?”
What if you and your business is more capable than you think? What if that idea you been sitting on is not random – but your next adventure? What if you stopped ignoring that thing that no longer feels aligned, and use it to build differently? What if God isn’t asking you to do more, but rather see it differently?
I know “innovation” can be overused. It can sound as if it means this huge change or going the opposite direction. Yes, innovation can look like a new product, a big launch or a massive business pivot.
But often, it starts smaller. It started when you started looking at things differently but tried to ignore it.
However, what if you are not sure what questions to ask? Well, here is a few to think through:
Why are we doing it this way?
Is this still serving our clients well?
Is this still aligned with the vision?
Is this system supporting growth or causing overwhelm?
Are we offering what people actually need, or only what we have always offered?
Are we building from faith or from fear?
Are we making decisions from habit or from wisdom?
Questions create a beautiful space for possibilities. And I do believe that those questions building in the mind, is a way for the Spirit to get our attention that we need to listen.
What worked before may not be what will carry you forward. Standing still means we are not going forward, but begin going back. Of course, like previously said, consistency works, only if that consistency looks the same in basics – but the why it looks, is different.
You might have reached a stage now, where doing things the same way are beginning to feel heavy. Your days are looking scattered, your cashflow has begun to be unpredictable, marketing looks and sounds repetitive. Your message needs refreshing. You as the business owner has outgrown the way you have been operating.
Isaiah 54:2 says, “Enlarge the place of your tent… do not hold back.” I love this scripture, because enlargement requires preparation. You cannot step into a wider capacity while holding tightly to every old structure.
Innovation is about having the courage to ask what needs to asked – no holding back.
Reimagining what is possible does not mean you need to throw away what you have worked on and start again. Because you never truly start again. You have lessons learnt, success to lean on.
Reimagining simply means being brave enough to look at your business with fresh eyes. To question assumptions, revisit the vision. To stop limiting your business to what has always been done. Allow the right support to help you see further. You and your business is more capable than you think! Not because you have to force it, or that you need to become someone else, but because when your business is built with God, aligned with purpose: possibility begins to expand.
