Confessions of a Christian Business Owner: The Days I Wanted to Give Up

Let’s get real here… there are many days I show up full of faith, focused, and ready to take on all what God has asked me to. But then, there are days I wanted to quit, and not just a little bit.

I mean completely walk away, shut it down and tell God, “I’m not the person for this – I don’t want to this anymore” … Yes, I have said it. Have you ever felt this way too? I know you’re not alone.

There is this pressure we don’t always talk about. As Christian entrepreneurs, we carry a unique weight. We don’t just want to succeed – we want to thrive. We want to honour God, with a smile on the face through doing it all. We want to serve people, provide for our families, make everyone around us proud. All well leading by example… But the pressure to do it ‘right’ – can be so overwhelming.

In those seasons, I would question everything but my constant question – What if I fail, and people think You failed?

Going through a season, I would sit in my car, every morning and remember thinking, I don’t think I can do this anymore… I felt burnout, financially pressured, spiritually challenged – everything was silenced.

Until one day, in that silence, a gentle whisper from God: “You are not alone. You are not building this alone. I need you to surrender it all to Me.”

That moment didn’t solve all my problems, but it shifted something inside me. I began to:

  • Pray differently – took it more seriously, using prayer scripts for all aspects of my business – not just financially.
  • Ask for help – Realising that no one was asking me to do it all but that I assumed I had to. Trying to make myself feel important (if I am being very honest) but all I was doing was giving everything only my half best.
  • Go back to the ‘why’ – remembering why all of this is important to me and why God would have asked me.
  • Rest without guilt – hmm, okay this is still a work in progress, but I began to remind myself, even if I can’t see it, even if I can’t feel it – God is working – even while I sleep.

Taking one step at a time.

The Help God Sends (Even When You Don’t Expect It)

I expected God to come through with a loud miracle —
a flood of clients overnight, or a financial breakthrough that changed everything.
But instead, He came through in ways that looked like strategysupport, and structure:

  •  A coffee with a friend in business that mentions something I have been praying for or needed clarity with
  • New system or tool landed in my lap that saved me hours of overwhelm.
  • A coaching session or podcast said exactly what I needed to hear to take the next step. I take so much away from a coaching session with a client just as much as a client.
  • A sudden burst of clarity for my marketing — an idea that finally felt aligned and powerful.
  •  A deep inner conviction to stop guessing and start planning with God’s wisdom, not the world’s noise.

Sometimes, the help didn’t look “spiritual” — but it was still sacred.
God always finds a way to remind me:
“I care about your business. I’m building it with you.”

If you ever wanted to quit – read this:

You’re not failing – you’re human. Even in the Garden, Jesus said, “Father, if You are willing, take this cup from Me…” He even understood what it feels like to face and carry something heavy. He didn’t quit though, He understood He didn’t have to carry it. And neither do you.

You don’t need to quit – you need to be refreshed.

If you are facing a season of doubt or exhaustion in business – let me encourage you: The weight isn’t yours to carry, and you are not alone.

Going through what I have as not only a Christian Business Owner but as well as a Christian Business Coach, I created a faith-based coaching program for owners who are gifted but need support and strategy and Spirit-led strength. I can help and guide you and your business through seasons like this. We are human, and God told us we will have many seasons of worry – but He promises to never leave our side through them. So, this isn’t just for you to be reminded but for me too.
